Wake Up Dead starts with an <elevation>DEF <incremented>DEF several times.

However, this <elevation> is quickly antagonized by, first, descending micro-intervals that <weigh>DEF its steps down and, then, <diverging>DEF motifs that <root>DEF it at a baseline tone.

In the next round of iterations, a <counter-<weight>>DEF is virally <propagated>DEF by suffixing <weight> with <proto-<elevation>>DEF.

Ultimately, a <counter-<weight>> <incrementally> <leads>DEF, despite an intervening <divergence>, to an <<elevated> <counter-<weight>>>DEF.

In an unexpected development, a <rooting> motif then announces a <synthesis>DEF of <elevation> with <divergence>, where <counter-<weights>> (which represent <elevation>) propagate internally within a <rooting> motif. The <high note>DEF of the synthetic motif finalizes both key aspects of the synthesis: it gives a cadence to the rhythmic structure of the <rooting> motif, and it tonally completes the <lead> implied by the <counter-<weights>>, bringing closure to the constant one-upmanship between <elevation> and <divergence>.
